Therapeutic Village, LLC offers traditional face-to-face and On-Line or web-based counseling for adults, teens, and children. The approaches therapist Cheryl Elam uses are  collaborative and evidence-based and trauma-informed. Cheryl Elam is also a Kentucky-approved supervisor for Marriage and Family Therapist Associates (MFTA).

EMDR is a good treatment for general anxiety, depression, trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). EMDR helps unblock traumatic memories or disturbing events that cause intense suffering. Using EMDR Processing, the mind can heal from these experiences quickly and effectively. Gone are these intrusive thoughts, feelings, flashbacks, and nightmares.

Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) is an integrative therapy that incorporates family systems therapy with the intra-psychic and spiritual parts of the person.  IFS-Informed EMDR is for people experiencing complex trauma or attachment issues. It is for clients where EMDR did not work in the past or for clients and need additional resources along with standard EMDR to access and repair memories.

Therapeutic Village, LLC provides general Individual  Mental Health Therapy and offers Couples Counseling and Family Therapy.  We will provide Substance abuse treatment for client that have Co-Occuring problems (Mental health + substance abuse).   If necessary, we offer referrals to David's Purpose who provides Substance Abuse treatment in traditional face-to-face therapy as well as Online Web-based therapy.  606-291-8743

We offer Referrals to Appalachian Peace Center, Inc.  Kim Castle, Phd., is the director of this business.  She offers several services including Domestic Violence and Anger Assessments for Perpetrators.  She offers state certified Groups for  Anger  Management  and  the  BIP  program  for  Batters.   In addition, she does Family and Civil Mediations for the courts.


The Courts may  require Cooperative  Parenting classes for divorced couples that are having difficulty parenting their chilren.  She is certified to provide that training.

Therapeutic Village, LLC offers a positive practicum and intership experience for Clinicians still in school.  We offer these students a very rich experience and supervision.  


Cheryl L. Elam, LMFT is also a KY Board approved Clinical Supervisor.  Groups meet 2 hours twice per month, individual supervision  is  by appointment 


We  have  provided  Practicum/Internships  for  various  schools  across  the  US.    For  those  that  need  Cheryl’s  credentials,  she  has  a  BA In  Psychology from  Hanover  College,  IN  a  Master’s  Degree  in  Family  Therapy  from  University  of  Kentucky,  and  working  on  a  Phd  at  Amridge  University  in  Interdisciplinary  Studies:  MFT  and  Organizational  Leadership.    Supervision  courses  are  up-to-date.
